I want everything.
I want to be great at everything.
I want everything I do to be perfect. But the reality I came to today is this; with all the time I’ve wasted trying to be perfect at everything, I could have been really great at something.
Today I stop dividing my energy. Today I have decided to give up… to quit… to fail so I can finally succeed. Today I give up on some of my dreams to allow the most important ones to actually materialize.
I love creativity. I love to make things in any way I can. Drawing, painting, photo, digital, whatever! I don’t care what it is as long as I can have a creative release.
But as the old saying goes, Jack of all trades and a master of none, and with all the distractions I have allowed into my life, this rule applies to me.
Some people can do many things at above average levels, but for me, average is where I hover when I decide to divide my time. Today I have decided that average is just not good enough for me anymore. Today I have decided that I must stop giving my time and energy away and finally choose a side.
Today I have decided to put my quest to finish a traditional college away and completely immerse myself in the study of traditional art. I have also decided to give up my pursuit of photography. As much as I truly love photo, it is extremely demanding of my energy and I feel I need that energy to be directed toward other goals.
My decision has be an ongoing debate in my head for many years. But in contest to the continued attacks from reality television on everything that was once cool, I feel that as a member and a true lover of the art community, now more than ever, I need to focus my energy on my most important ambitions. I feel an ergency to do so because if television continues to tell the world at large what constitutes good art, we will all soon be obsolete.
Per fas et nefas is my motto, through right and wrong. In other words, by any means, I will find my way.
My name is Jason Salinaz, and my commitment is to preserving the art community.
Tattooing, fundamental drawing and painting skills are my focus. What are yours?
